Konflik sebagai Katalisator Pendidikan Karakter: Manajemen Resolusi di Pondok Pesantren Islam Nusantara Tegalrejo

Abstract

This study aims to analyze conflict management as an instrument of character education at the Islamic Boarding School (Pondok Pesantren) Islam Nusantara Tegalrejo. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this research explores the dynamics of conflicts arising from students' diverse backgrounds, communication barriers, and structural tensions. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using a restorative conflict management framework. The findings indicate that conflicts in the boarding school are not merely incidents of disciplinary disruption but serve as a catalyst for character education. Conflict management carried out collaboratively through the mechanism of shura (consultation) and the principle of justice successfully transforms the destructive potential of conflict into a means for students' emotional maturation. This process effectively establishes internalized discipline, which strengthens ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood). In conclusion, conflict management at this boarding school is an integral part of the hidden curriculum that effectively shapes students into resilient, communicative individuals capable of managing differences wisely. These findings imply that conflict resolution based on Islamic values can be adopted as a restorative and educational management model in other educational institutions.
