Salafiyah Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) often face intricate managerial challenges post-leadership transition, leading to a decline in institutional quality indicators due to clashes between classical traditions and modern governance. This study aims to analyze in depth the dialectic between preserving salafiyah traditions and introducing good governance principles within the management functions of planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling (POAC) post-leadership transition. Utilizing an analytical qualitative approach with a case study design, data were gathered through participatory observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with the leader and senior board members at Pondok Pesantren Mamba’ul Hisan Kebumen. Field findings reveal that program planning remains situational without long-term strategic documents; organization is based on family spirit and trust without written SOPs; the implementation of salafiyah learning is highly intensive yet lacks technology integration; and supervision is conducted informally-orally without measurable evaluation instruments. Theoretically, this study concludes that the management cycle in traditional pesantren transforms into "The Informal-Charismatic Quality Loop" model, where all POAC functions are organically substituted by the kiai's charismatic authority and the santri's theological bonds. Governance reconstruction through the gradual implementation of good governance principles is recommended to ensure the sustainable quality of Islamic education without diminishing the pesantren's spiritual identity.
